Club open day in the club premises 03/06/2017
GAAEC Open Day at the club premises on Saturday 3rd June, from 10am to 4pm.
We are situated in the house immediately next to the General Aviation Terminal. Anyone with an interest in aviation is welcome to come along
and have a tour of the club.
The club has been around for 51 years and the premises overlook the GAT and the runway, ideally situated for any spotters and/or photographers, and a welcome roof over your head during those cold or rainy days that we occasionally get in the west of Scotland.
Applications for membership can also be taken on the day for anyone who is interested. Its only 30 pounds for the first year of membership. We currently have a few vacancies. As well as a well-stocked club library of books and archive magazines, we get around a dozen magazines a month, have a seating area upstairs, a fridge and tuck-shop cupboard (with very competitive prices) and toilet facilities, in addition to an SBS, scanner and binoculars.
A couple of committee members will be available all day for any enquiries. Just turn up on the day between 10am and 4pm and knock on the door !
Slideshow evening at Cottons Bar in Renfrew 14/03/2017
There was a good turnout for the first slide show evening of 2017. This was a free event and was open to both members and non-members alike. Around 30 people turned up and enjoyed an interesting few hours looking at photos from past times. Photographs shown included aircraft taken in the 1960s and 1970s as well as some 21st Century at Sharjah International Airport (OMSJ/SHJ) and elsewhere. Many great photos taken at Prestwick Airport (EGPK/PIK) from the 1960s were also shown. As always, in lieu of entry, we took donations and raised £40 which will go to Erskine Hospital for ex-servicemen and women.
