Current membership fees (2017-2018) are £47 per year (pro rata for members joining during the course of the year) with a further payment of £6.00 for a set of keys to the clubhouse (that's great value at around 90 pence a week). New members will still pay only £30 for the first callander year. This is less than a subscription to one decent periodical and you get various magazines including Scramble and Airliner World.
Since the opening of the airport a careful note has been kept of every first visit by all aircraft that have landed, and this computerised master log is a mine
of interesting information for anyone chasing a gap in his log or confirming an identity. A daily log is maintained at the clubroom, and is available to view at any time.
A wide selection of periodical magazines, specialist magazines and up to date registers are made available for members to keep up with current happenings, fleet changes and new registrations. Old USA and Canadian microfiche are a necessity for checking aircraft no longer current, and therefore not available on line on the net. We have a working microfiche reader on the premises to use. Key magazines are kept dating back to the 1970's for anyone with a query from the past or just wanting to reminisce.
A number of classic aviation books are kept in the Club for members to read or browse through, many of which cannot now be obtained. Also the club has a collection of photographs and slides taken at the airport over the years. Other facilities include - an airband scanner, binoculars, pc with SBS-1 radar software, television (with Freeview), tea, coffee and a food cupboard for the hungry spotter, where prices are lower than the shops, and any profits go into funds to run the club.
For the members who spend a long time, either in the club or around the airport taking photos or are far travelled - there is also a toilet!.
A monthy club magazine is available to download as a searchable pdf file. Click here for a sample copy
Members have access to the club 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Social MediaA members only Groups.io page is available and members are actively encouraged to subscribe. We have a GAAEC Flickr group with a variety of old and new photos. Recently we started a Facebook group and members with a Facebook account are free to join (by invite)
